This study seeks to understand the diverse sources of identity change (struggles, adaptations, assimilations) among persons who choose to live in regions other than their place of birth. International students from Eastern and Central European countries were interviewed about their cross-cultural communication experiences while in the U.S. The study offers some insights into the identity formation of foreign students through their acquisition of the host culture communication patterns. It can assist researchers in learning whether or not, and how cross-cultural communication of international students has an impact in their integration into American culture and whether or not international students become bi-cultural, multicultural, or global citizens as the result of their stay in the U.S.
