Product Description Iain is Senior lecturer at the Centre for Alcohol and Drugs Studies at the University of the West of Scotland. He has worked in the addictions field for 23 years, the first 9 face to face with addicts in several of Glasgow’s most deprived areas. He has worked in London, training drug workers for Connexions. He was Project Leader for National Drugs helpline, and Drugs Development Officer in Renfrewshire. He has delivered drug education to police officers as part of their specialist drug training. He is an expert witness, giving evidence in courts all over Scotland. He has worked with several recovery groups in Glasgow, and in therapeutic communities. This book explores the social worlds of drug takers not normally included in drug research, and investigates the practices of an intentionally unseen group of non-treatment seeking drugs users in Scotland. Iain has published several papers in academic journals on drug addiction, drug policy, and drugs education. Iain was born in the 1960’s but doesn’t remember them. Perhaps that, more than anything, makes him qualified to talk about drugs. About the Author Iain is Senior lecturer on a postgraduate programme on addiction, at the Centre for Alcohol and Drugs Studies, School of Social Sciences, UWS. He has worked in the addictions field for 23 years. He is married to Yolande; they have a son David. They live in Scotland.
