The purpose of this book which was first written as a doctoral work at St. Clements University in 2006, is to attempt and suggest ways of developing a model for current needs towards improving rural traditional houses currently found in Tanzania accommodating the majority of the population. To enable the author come forward and address the right and relevant solutions to the shortfalls, it had been necessary for him to find out and understand the original situation, condition and cultural ties of the traditional rural houses in Tanzania. Aiming at understanding and drawing up a practical approach for houses improvement without affecting the preservation of the cultural and traditional norms of the rural people. This thus, touches on the origin of mankind with his habitat in Tanzania, population situation and its growth and movement, geographical and climatic influence and the government and NGO’s involvement in the rural houses improvement in the country
