La Interferometría Clásica se revitalizó con el advenimiento del láser, fomentándose también otras nuevas técnicas como la Holografía, la Interferometría Holográfica, y la Interferometría de Speckle. El desarrollo de nuevos detectores de distribuciones de irradiancias y la gran simplificación de los ordenadores prepararon el desarrollo de novedosos procedimientos de evaluación de distribuciones de fase, superando previas restricciones limitantes de su precisión. Así, los llamados métodos heterodinos y los cuasi-heterodinos claman precisiones inusitadas. Las técnicas son adaptables a gran número de sistemas interferométricos (sean clásicos, holográficos o electrónicos). La Interferometría de Corrimiento de Fase (Phase Shifting Interferometry) por ejemplo, es una técnica ya rutinaria en varios ámbitos. En este contexto, el objetivo del presente compendio consiste en exponer las ideas fundamentales sobre las que descansan los procedimientos interferométricos de alta precisión mencionados. Ilustrándolos mediante casos considerados como los más representativos, se presentan éstos con el detalle suficiente para poder ser ejercitados con el auxilio de algún paquete de Matemáticas usual.
