E' il luogo dove si passa la parte migliore della vita e di cui si conserva la nostalgia fino alla morte! E' un discorso complicato se lo trasponiamo nei secoli passati, ma di certo nuovo per il lettorato italiano che non conosce lo "spirito russo" di oggi e di ieri. Il primo punto da chiarire onde evitare irrigidite speculazioni è l'aggettivo "russo". Da parte mia l'uso che ne faccio non si riferisce a un popolo definito, ma a una cultura sincretistica che si cominciò a formare sotto l'egida della chiesa cristiana di Kiev a partire dalla fine del X sec. d.C. e che fino al XIV-XV sec. d.C., alla chiusura del periodo che a me interessa, era ancora difficilmente riconoscibile. Insomma nessuna inutile opposizione etnica o nazionalista... Chiarito ciò, da qualche anno covavo il desiderio di condurre un'indagine più profonda sulla realtà abitativa dei tempi passati nel mondo slavo in generale poiché, a mio avviso, ciò avrebbe potuto spiegarmi certi aspetti della storia slavo-russa che mi rimanevano poco chiari e allora ho deciso di lanciarmi alla ricerca dei lavori specialistici che ne parlassero. Ne ho trovati un'infinità, o quasi. Alcuni seppure fuori commercio in qualche modo li ho recuperati. Ad altri reperibili nelle librerie o consultabili nelle biblioteche ex sovietiche tramite internet e con l'aiuto di amici ucraini e russi sono riuscito a accedere e così ho raccolto quanto mi serviva. Lo studio mi ha portato via molto tempo logicamente e quando ho pensato di mettere insieme le notizie raccolte come io le avevo in testa, ho capito che avrei dovuto produrre un testo di almeno 500 e più pagine.
