Klassische Unternehmensbereiche für TCO sind die Bereiche Produktion, Vertrieb und Marketing. In den letzten Jahren sind auch die IT-Kosten ins Zentrum der Betrachtungen gerückt. Hierbei spielte die Steigerung der Effizienz der IT eine entscheidende Rolle. Die Budgets der IT werden vor allem in für das Unternehmen schwierigen Zeiten beschnitten. Dies führt häufig zu einem Stopp von IT-Projekten, da das Budget für die vorhandenen Services und den Betrieb von Applikationen verwendet wird. Das führt zu einen Investitionsstau in der IT. Seit Jahren gibt es bereits eine neue Form des Betriebs von IT-Infrastrukturen, mit welchem sich auch ein Teil dieses Investitionsstaus abbauen lässt. Cloud Computing (CC) kann sich jedoch nicht in die bereits vorhandenen Modelle des TCO eingegliedert werden, da es sich um eine komplett andere Betriebsform der IT handelt. Aus diesem Grund ist es nötig, die bereits vorhandenen TCO-Modelle für die IT abzuwandeln und an das CC anzupassen. Ziel dieser Diplomarbeit ist es, das Thema CC aus der Sicht der Betriebswirtschaft zu erörtern. Hierfür werden unterschiedliche Modelle des konventionellen IT Controlling betrachtet und auf das neue Modell CC angepasst. Diese werden während der Diplomarbeit auf das CC angepasst und stellen dadurch eine gute Bewertungsgrundlage für Kunden da, um eine komplette Übersicht der zukünftigen bzw. der bereits entstandenen Kosten zu verstehen und diese im Anschluss mit einer konventionellen IT-Lösung zu vergleichen.
