Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Ethnologie / Volkskunde, Note: 1,3, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (Institut für Ethnologie), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Magisterarbeit im Fach Ethnologie setzt sich kritisch mit dem 'Indigenous Peoples Rights Act of 1997' (IPRA) der Philippinen auseinander, der theoretisch eines der progressivsten Gesetze weltweit hinsichtlich der Verwirklichung 'indigener Rechte' darstellt. Die kritische Betrachtung des Gesetzes wird mit dem Fallbeispiel der Subanon vom Mt. Canatuan (Zamboanga del Norte, Mindanao) verknüpft. Den Ausgangspunkt der Untersuchung bildet die Frage, wie effektiv 'indigene Rechte' durch das Gesetz gesichert werden können, und welche Probleme sich ergeben, wenn diese durch staatliche und unternehmerische Interessen herausgefordert werden. Davon ausgehend, dass die Beziehung zwischen 'indigenen Gemeinschaften' und dem Staat durch ein postkoloniales Machtverhältnis geprägt ist, verfolgt die Arbeit das Ziel, aufzuzeigen, wie bzw. ob sich dieses durch den IPRA verändert hat und welche praktischen Auswirkungen hinsichtlich der Handlungsmöglichkeiten 'indigener Gemeinschaften' damit einhergehen.
