Mit den vorliegenden Banden lXj4a und b ist die handbuchmaBige Darstellung der Geschwulste der Bronchien, Lungen und der Pleura abgeschlossen. Band lXj4c ist bereits 1973 erschienen. 1m Vorwort zu diesem Band hat FRANZ STRNAD noch kurz vor seinem Tode ausfiihrlich das Werk von W. SCHULZE gewiirdigt und dessen Aufnahme in dieses Handbuch begriindet. Auf dieses Vorwort sei hier ver wiesen. Auch bei den Banden lXj4a und b geht die Darstellung uber das, was man in einem radiologischen Handbuch als notwendig erwartet, hinaus. Wo aber findet man das ge samte Wissensgut iiber die Lungengeschwiilste, namentlich iiber das Bronchialkarzinom - eine der wichtigsten Krebsformen iiberhaupt - mit einer solchen Akribie zusammen getragen und kritisch betrachtet, wie W. SCHULZE es in weit iiber 10jahriger Arbeit getan hat. Dafiir miissen wir ihm danken. Eine umfassendere Bearbeitung ist kaum noch moglich. Die beiden jetzt vorliegenden Bande befassen sich ausschlieBlich mit dem Bronchial karzinom, und zwar im Teil 4a mit Statistik, Atiologie, der pathologisch-anatomischen Morphologie sowie der klinischen Symptomatologie. Teil 4 b enthalt die Strahlendiagnostik bronchogener Karzinome in allen Einzelheiten, wobei die verschiedensten Untersuchungs und Darstellungsmethoden nicht nur genau beschrieben, sondern auch hinsichtlich ihrer diagnostischen Beweiskraft kritisch betrachtet werden. W. SCHULZE hat ein Standardwerk geschaffen, das fiir lange Zeit Bestand haben wird. Dusseldorf, im November 1974 H.
