Die Analytische Chemie ist eine angewandte Wissenschaft, die weit iiber Chemie, Biochemie und Lebensmittelchemie hinaus fiir Biologie, Klinische Medizin, Geowissenschaften, Umweltforschung, Umweltiiberwachung und auch fiir die Physik grundlegende Bedeutung erlangt hat. Eine Fiille neuer analytischer Aufgaben und Moglichkeiten erwuchs aus, diesem inter disziplinaren Zusammenwirken: insbesondere der Physik und der Physika lischen Chemie verdankt die Analytik neue Verfahren; die Automatisie rung der chemischen Analytik ist in rascher Entwicklung begriffen. Aus dieser Situation entstand die Forderung nach einem aktuellen, handlichen Taschenbuch, das am Arbeitsplatz prazise Informationen iiber Prinzip und Anwendbarkeit der analytischen Verfahren bietet. Das etwa jedes Jahr erscheinende Werk soIl, der Entwicklung folgend, in einer Reihe von Einzelbeitragen neue und bewahrte klassische "Grund lagen," "Methoden" und Anwendungen" beschreiben. 1m AnschluB an diesen Beitragsteil erscheinen ab Band 2 einige fiir den Analytiker standig niitzliche Informationen als "Basisteil," der in den Folgebanden laufend erganzt bzw. iiberarbeitet wird (er entfiel lediglich in Band 4, da die An derungen gering gewesen waren). Das Taschenbuch hat seine Aufgabe erfiillt, wenn es dem analytisch Arbeitenden ein Hilfsmittel am Arbeits platz ist, das ihm taglich auftretende Fragen beantwortet bzw. ihm Hin weise gibt, wo er eine Antwort finden kann. Ein Sachregister erschlieBt den Inhalt jedes erscheinenden Bandes. Das Autorenverzeichnis wird laufend erganzt. Um eine optimale Inhaltsiiber sicht zu gewahren, werden ab Band 4 die Inhaltsverzeichnisse der voran gegangenen Bande abgedruckt."
