Seit langem ist bekannt, daB man durch Anwendung der Modulfunktionen ei ner komplexen Variablen Slitze iiber die Darstellungsanzahlen natiirlicher Zah len durch positiv-definite ganzzahlige quadratische Formen beweisen kann. Die erzeugende Fourier-Reihe der Darstellungsanzahien ist eine Thetareihe und damit eine ganze Modulform. Uber diese gilt ein Reduktionstheorem, das besagt, daB sieh jede solche durch ein geeignetes lineares Aggregat Eisenstein scher Reihen auf eine ganze Spitzenform der gleichen Formenklasse additiv re duzieren lliBt. 1m wesentlichen nach diesem besonders von E. Hecke herausgestellten Schema kann alles abgeleitet werden, was an konkreten Resultaten zum ge nannten Thema vorliegt. Die Resultate sind im strengen Sinne Analoga der be riihmten Formel von C. G. 1. Jacobi fUr die Anzahl der Darstellungen einer na tiirlichen Zahl als Summe von vier Quadraten ganzer Zahlen. Wir bezeichnen im folgenden diese Analoga als Identitliten Jacobischer Art. Der vorliegende Bericht besteht aus lauter Beispielen fUr die Anwendung des obigen Verfahrens auf den Beweis solcher Identitliten. Es entstehen deren nieht nur endlich viele. Es werden auch Serien unendlich vieler Probleme der Bestimmung von Darstel lungsanzahlen durch quadratische Formen aufgewiesen, deren Losung auf Identitliten Jacobischer Art mit zunlichst unbestimmten Koeffizienten fUhrt. Fiir diese sind die Losungen eines linearen Gleichungssystems einzusetzen, des sen eindeutige Losbarkeit von vomherein feststeht.
