Es stellt den abiturrelevanten Stoff der Analysis verständlich und in strukturierter Form dar, ohne sich dabei im komplizierten Gemenge eines Begriffsgeflechts zu verlieren. Damit schafft es für den Anfänger einen ebenso leichten Zugang zur Materie wie es für den Fortgeschrittenen den komplett zu beherrschenden Stoff noch einmal ordnet und greifbar macht. Didaktisch aufbereitet und durchdacht ist es sehr gut als Unterrichtsleitfaden für Lehrer nutzbar. Auch Lehramtsstudenten, welche ihre Erklärungsmodelle erweitern und vertiefen möchten, sind angesprochen. Ein Vorteil der Verwendung des Buchs als Lehrmaterial besteht darin, dass es nicht auf ein spezifisches Bundesland zugeschnitten ist. Auch der Unterschied zwischen Grund- und Leistungskurs ist für den Ansatz, Mathematik zu verstehen, irrelevant. Damit ist es im Unterricht unabhängig von der Schulart einsetzbar. Es gibt viele Bücher und Vorbereitungen, die abiturähnliche Aufgaben rechnen und ein bestimmtes Schema für Aufgabentypen „einschleifen" sollen. Dieses Buch geht bewusst den Weg des Verstehens und verzichtet auf eine umfassende Aufgabensammlung. Gleichwohl gibt es für jede Thematik und Aufgabenkonstellation ein Erklärungsbeispiel, indem die Umsetzung des theoretischen Ansatzes in praktisches Rechnen erfolgt. Mit der Einführung CAS-fähiger Taschenrechner als erlaubtes Hilfsmittel ist ein Großteil der bisherigen Aufgaben nicht mehr zur Überprüfung des Leistungsstands nutzbar. Es rücken schon jetzt immer mehr Verstehensfragen in den Vordergrund, weshalb künftig ein tiefergehendes Verständnis der Materie unumgänglich sein wird.
