Diese Forschungsarbeit untersucht zunächst die verschiedenen Fluchtursachen togostämmiger Geflüchteter. Dann beschreibt sie die Erfahrungen, die diese mit Menschenschmuggler*innen auf dem Fluchtweg machen mussten. Abschließend wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit der Versuch unternommen, die Herausforderungen darzulegen, mit denen sie sich in Deutschland konfrontiert sahen. Dazu wurden leitfadengestützte Interviews mit in Baden-Württemberg lebenden togostämmigen Geflüchteten unterzogen. Die Auswertung des gewonnenen Materials erfolgte mittels "qualitativer Inhaltsanalyse" nach Philipp Mayring, und zwar der "deduktiv-induktiven Kategorienbildung" und "-anwendung".Es konnte herausgearbeitet werden, dass togostämmige Geflüchtete aufgrund der fehlenden "Good Governance" ihr Heimatland verlassen. Diese ist gekennzeichnet durch fehlende Meinungsfreiheit, Verfolgung von regierungskritischen Menschen, mangelnde Arbeitsplätze, Korruption und Nepotismus sowie Misswirtschaft. Ergeben hat sich ebenfalls, dass die Außenpolitik Frankreichs in Togo zum Teil dazu beiträgt, den Mangel an "Good Governance" zu verstärken, indem es sich in die Innenpolitik Togos einmischt.
