El filósofo inglés Michael Dummett (1925-2011) sigue siendo un gran desconocido en el mundo de habla hispana. El objetivo del presente trabajo es presentar sus aportaciones a la filosofía del lenguaje y a las discusiones en torno a la ontología. A partir de la tesis de que las disputas metafísicas han de resolverse en el terreno de la teoría del significado, Dummett elabora una teoría justificacionista del significado (fundamentada sobre Frege, Wittgenstein y el intuicionismo) para ofrecer una posición antirrealista en metafísica, en matemáticas y en el tema del tiempo. Este estudio nos muestra cómo las preguntas de siempre de la filosofía quieren ser respondidas por Dummett desde una genuina filosofía del lenguaje.
