L'apport bénéfique des anti-VGEF dans la prise en charge de cette pathologie est confirmé dans cette étude. Elle montre une différence très importante en ce qui concerne le pronostic visuel entre les patients pris en charge au stade de rubéose débutante sans atteinte de l'angle camérulaire (37,9%), et ceux pris en charge au stade de GNV débutant avec élévation de la PIO(62,1%) pour lesquels le pronostic final reste réservé. Dans les cas où le diagnostic et le traitement interviennent avant le stade de GNV, cette étude confirme que le traitement anti-VEGF de la NVSA secondaire aux OVR permet de stopper le développement de la rubéose, de stabiliser la tension intraoculaire, de préserver la vision, de pratiquer le traitement au laser sur un ?il calme et normotone, sans précipitation. Plusieurs injections sont nécessaires d'emblée pour obtenir une régression totale de la néovascularisation parallèlement à la réalisation d'une PPR complète, dans le but d'éviter la récidive de la néovascularisation qui aurait une issue très défavorable pour la vision finale. Cette étude montre aussi l'importance de la trabéculectomie associée aux anti-VGEF dans la prise en charge du GNV.
