Les maladies cardiovasculaires représentent la principale cause de décès des patients atteints de maladie rénale chronique. Les objectifs sont de déterminer la prévalence et les facteurs de risque de l'HVG au cours des différents stades de l'insuffisance rénale chronique Patients et méthodes. L'étude est transversale descriptive (janvier 2008 à juin 2012). 244 patients insuffisants rénaux chroniques sont inclus. La masse ventriculaire gauche a été évaluée par échocardiographie, L'HVG a été définie par un IMVG (MVG/surface corporelle), supérieur à 115 g/m2 chez l'homme et supérieur à 95g/m2 chez la femme. La prévalence de l'HVG est de 59,8%, présente dès les premiers stades de l'IRC et augmente avec le déclin de la fonction rénale. Elle est de type mixte et sauf pour l'âge,elle est liée à des facteurs modifiables : HTA systolique, hyperparathyroïdie, diabète et déclin du DFG. Le quart des patients présentent des pressions ventriculaires gauches élevées.Le NT-ProBNP est un marqueur utile de la dysfonction diastolique. La prévention de l'HVG passe par la correction précoce des facteurs de risque cardiovasculaires spécifiques ou non de l'urémique.
