Eine gute Ausbildung ist unerlässliche Voraussetzung für die Entwicklung einer Gesellschaft. Doch wie sieht ein "leistungsfähiges Berufsbildungssystem" aus? Gibt es Bestandteile, die für jedes Land und jede Gesellschaft positive Auswirkungen erzielen und daher global verbreitet werden sollten? Eignet sich das duale Ausbildungssystem Deutschlands für den Export? In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird seine Bedeutung für andere Länder, vor allem China, untersucht. Dafür erfolgt eine Darstellung der Grundstruktur und historischen Entwicklung des deutschen und chinesischen Bildungssystems sowie des Prozesses der deutsch-chinesischen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Abgerundet wird die Untersuchung durch zwei konkrete Projekte der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Die Ergebnisse der Arbeit sind für Sinologen, Pädagogen und Politikwissenschaftler gleichermaßen interessant.
