Alkoholbezogene Schlüsselreize, sogenannte Cues, stellen für alkoholkranke Menschen einen Risikofaktor für Rückfall dar. Alkoholreize können erhöhtes Alkoholverlangen und Veränderungen im physiologischen Bereich auslösen (z. B. Veränderungen der Pulsfrequenz, Erhöhung der Hautleitfähigkeit durch erhöhte Anspannung und Nervosität). Diese Reaktionen erhöhen die Wahrscheinlichkeit, Alkohol zu konsumieren. Cue-Exposure bezeichnet die Konfrontation mit diesen Schlüsselreizen. Die Autorin Veronika Feigl stellt eine Untersuchung vor, die sie bei alkoholabhängigen Männern durchgeführt hat. Die Studie überprüft die Effektivität ihres neu entwickelten Cue-Exposure-Trainings. Bei diesem Training werden die Patienten wiederholt mit Alkoholreizen in Form einer Videosequenz konfrontiert. Während dessen erfolgen die objektive Registrierung körperlicher Veränderungen mithilfe von Biofeedback und die subjektive Einschätzung des Alkoholverlangens. Dadurch können die Patienten lernen, die eigenen Reaktionen auf Alkoholreize wahrzunehmen und zu kontrollieren. Das Buch richtet sich an alle Fachleute, die in der Behandlung, Beratung und Begleitung von suchtkranken Menschen arbeiten.
