In der heutigen Zeit spielen mobile ¿Alleskönner¿ eine führende Rolle. In naher Zukunft werden PDAs/Handys, nicht mehr wegzudenken sein. In diesem Sinn entwickelte ein Museum die Idee seinen Besuchern auch die historischen Objekte in der ländlichen Umgebung durch einen mobilen Museumsführer nahezubringen. Es wurde ein Informationssystem entwickelt, welches eine GPS-Anbindung implementiert und somit eine positionsabhängige dynamische Aufbereitung von Inhalten gewährleistet. Das System enthält verschiedene Infos zu bestimmten Sehenswürdigkeiten sowie diverse Kartenausschnitte die das Auffinden der historischen Objekte erleichtern. Der Museumsgast wird anhand seiner GPS-Position entlang einer Route navigiert. Die Publikation beschreibt die Durchführung des Vorhabens, angefangen vom Analysieren der notwendigen Technologien (Java, C#, MS Windows Mobile 2003, XML, PDAs, GPS, NMEA, ¿), über das Erarbeiten von Lösungskonzepten bis hin zur Umsetzung mittels Lasten- und Pflichtenheft. Das Buch richtet sich an alle Technologie-Begeisterten die auf der Augenhöhe eines wegweisenden Gebietes fundierte Erfahrung sammeln und gern selbst Anwendungen für mobilen Helfer des Alltags entwickeln wollen.
