Nation-Building setzt an der Erkenntnis an, dass Gewaltherrschaft und das Scheitern von Staatlichkeit (failed states) ebenso wie Armut und Unterentwicklung grundlegende Gefahren für die Weltordnung darstellen. Problemstellung des Buchs ist die völkerrechtliche Einordnung von Nation-Building als Methode der Friedenssicherung. Die Autorin bettet Nation-Building, das eine militärische Intervention von außen mit Wiederaufbau, dem Aufbau von Staatlichkeit und Entwicklungshilfe kombiniert, in die Struktur der internationalen Friedenssicherungsmaßnahmen ein und untersucht es anhand von Fallbeispielen (Kosovo, Timor-Leste, Afghanistan). Dabei erörtert sie betroffene Rechtsgüter, notwendige Rechtsgrundlagen, Anforderungen an externe Akteure sowie das in der Nachkonfliktphase geltende Recht (ius post bellum). About the Author Franziska Schuierer studierte Rechtswissenschaften an den Universitäten Göttingen, Bristol und Würzburg und absolvierte ein Begleitstudium im Europäischen Recht. Sie wurde am Lehrstuhl für Öffentliches Recht, Völkerrecht und Europarecht der Universität Marburg promoviert.
