Die Volksrepublik nutzte diese markante Gelegenheit interkultureller Repräsentation, um der Weltöffentlichkeit ihr Wunschbild zu kommunizieren und somit auf Kritik zu reagieren. Anhand einer semiotischen und ideologiekritischen Analyse erörtert die Autorin, wie sich China selbst stilisierte und welche Wirkziele das Gastgeberland verfolgte. Mithilfe der Auswertung chinesischer und deutscher Medien vergleicht sie die Abweichungen des deutschen Chinabildes von der chinesischen Selbstrepräsentation. About the Author Shan Cao studierte Germanistik an der Universität Qingdao sowie der Tongji Universität in Shanghai. Sie wurde am Institut für Deutsche Philologie an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München promoviert.
