Para unos, el humor es un juego; para otros, una posición ante la vida. Otros, en cambio, ven en el humor un refugio; una huída. Son muchos los que vislumbran en él un aire de «jovialidad, agudeza, apacibilidad de genio y alegría»; hay quien lo asocia al deseo satisfecho o, tal vez, como Freud defendía, al insatisfecho. No falta quien lo afilie con el absurdo, el disparate, la tontería, la comicidad, la burla y otros tantos miembros de tan lúdica familia. Corriendo el riesgo de olvidarnos de algunas de sus características - como decía Pirandello -, y a la vez, intentando contribuir a ampliar la ya poliédrica noción del término, el presente estudio analiza los procedimientos lingüísticos generadores del humor apoyándose en un corpus significativo de obras literarias de los autores de la «otra generación del 27» con el propósito de comparar las bases teórico-humorísticas plasmadas en las obras de los cuatro autores seleccionados y determinar las semejanzas y divergencias en virtud de los parámetros autor, género y época. Todo ello, además, con el fin de comprobar la adecuación del membrete que les ha sido asignado para identificarlos como grupo generacional.
