Der kentische Dialekt des Altenglischen ist nur in wenigen Texten bezeugt. Die Hauptquelle für unsere Kenntnis des Kentischen sind die sogenannten Kentischen Glossen aus der Handschrift London, British Library, Cotton Vespasian D.vi. Diese Handschrift entstand um die Mitte des 10. Jahrhunderts in Canterbury und gehört zu den wichtigsten Zeugnissen für die altenglische Dialektologie. In dieser Arbeit findet sich eine ausführliche Beschreibung der Handschrift und ihrer Texte sowie eine kommentierte Neuedition der Kentischen Glossen. Schließlich werden die in den Grammatiken als kentisch eingestuften lautlichen Besonderheiten altenglischer Texte zu dem Befund der Kentischen Glossen in Beziehung gesetzt und kritisch besprochen.
