Des weiteren wird praktisch-therapeutisches Vorgehen sowohl für Kriseninterventionen als auch für längerfristige Psychotherapie vermittelt. Die einzelnen Krankheitsbilder werden in einen mythologisch/anthropologischen Kontext gestellt, womit ebenfalls ein Bezug zu einer alten psychoanalytischen Grundkonzeption hergestellt wird, wie sie etwa heute in der analytischen Psychologie C.G. Jungs vertreten wird. Das Buch wendet sich an Ärzte, Psychologen und Psychotherapeuten, ist aber ebenso von Interesse für Sozialarbeiter, Suchttherapeuten und Heilpädagogen.
