Strömungstechnische Probleme finden sich in nahezu allen Bereichen der Naturwissen schaft als auch in der unmittelbaren Umwelt unseres täglichen Lebens. Strömungsma schinen sind, sei es als autonome Anlage oder auch als Hilfsmaschinen, in allen Gebie ten der Technik anzutreffen. Das vorliegende Buch stellt sich die Aufgabe, in gestraffter Form gemeinsam - die strömungstechnischen Grundlagen - eine allgemeine Maschinenkunde zu sämtlichen Bauarten der Strömungsmaschinen - einzelne spezifische Anlagen, welche als typische Strömungsmaschinen anzusp- chen sind oder deren Wirkungsweise nur aus der Sicht der Strömungstechnik ver ständlich wird darzustellen. So werden Verdichter, Kreiselpumpe, Dampf-, Gas- und Wasserturbine be handelt, darüber hinaus wichtige Spielarten dieser Geräte wie Strömungswandler, Strahlantrieb, Abgasturbolader. Am Propeller und vor allem am Hubschrauber werden die Strömungs- und Kräfteverhältnisse am Schaufelblatt deutlich gemacht, gleichzeitig aber auch ein modernes und weitverbreitetes fluggerät vorgestellt. Der Energieerzeugung, als solche eng mit dem Betrieb von Dampf-, Gas- und Wasser turbinen verknüpft, wird ein eigener Abschnitt gewidmet. Den Abhandlungen zu den strörnungstechnischen Grundlagen des 1. und 2. Abschnitts sind eine Reihe von durchgerechneten Übungsaufgaben beigefügt, die Behandlung der Maschinen wird in einigen grundlegenden Fällen durch einfache Auslegungsbeispiele er gänzt. Das Buch ist vom Techniker für den Techniker geschrieben. Es soll dem Studierenden helfen, in die stoffreiche Fülle des technischen Studiums einzudringen, es mag dem im Betrieb Schaffenden zur Lösung mancher fragen verhelfen. VI Mathematische Anforderungen sind bewußt reduziert worden und finden sich nur an je nen Ste!len, wo eine mathematische Herleitung für die Aussagekraft einer Beziehung oder zur Erklärung eines Sachverhalts unbedingt erforderlich ist.
