Das Vorliegen zahlreicher neuer Ergebnisse auf den Gebieten der Chemie, Biochemie, Pharmazie, Pharmakologie und Medizin lieB es nahezu zwingend er scheinen, die internationalen Flavonoidexperten erneut zu einer multidisziplinaren Konferenz zusammen zu rufen. Auch dieses Mal hatte die Firma Zyma GmbH Mtinchen durch ihre Einladung in das SchloB Monrepos bei Ludwigsburg ideale Voraussetzungen fUr die Berichterstattung und manchmal hitzigen Diskussionen der teilweise von weither angereisten Flavonoidforscher geschaffen. Flavonoiddrogen werden seit Jahrhunderten in Asien und Europa in der Volks medizin verwendet. Den AnstoB zum Einsatz der Flavonoide in der modernen The rapie gab der ungarische Nobelpreistrager Szent-Gyorgyi vor 45 Jahren durch den Wirksamkeitsnachweis von Flavonen auf die GefciBpermeabilitat. Erst die Deriva tisierung des Rutins zu wasserloslichen Rutosiden schaffte jedoch die Basis fUr ein gut vertragliches Pharmakon ohne Nebenwirkungen."
