Mitbestimmungsforsehung in der Bundesrepublik hat Tradition - allerdings keine kontinuierliehe. Die Impulse gingen jeweils von legalistisehen Akten aus: von der Verabsehiedung des Mit bestimmungsgesetzes fUr den Montanbereieh (1951) und des Mit bestimmungsgesetzes fUr die groBen Unternehmen (1976). Es waren Probleme von Reehtstatsaehenforsehung im weiteren Sinn, die sieh der Mitbestimmungsforsehung in den 50er Jahren stell ten und auf die sie heute an der Sehwelle zu einer neuen Forsehungskonjunktur wieder Antworten sueht: Welehe betriebs wirtsehaftliehen, organisatorisehen und bewuBtseinsmaBigen Auswirkungen hat die reehtliehe Normierung von Mitbestimmung im Aufsiehtsrat?1) 1m folgenden werden Ergebnisse einer untersuehung prasentiert, die sieh gegenUber traditionellen und laufenden Projekten in zweifaeher Hinsieht unterseheidet: Es handelt sieh urn eine Fallstudie, die sieh zeitlieh auf die Entstehungsphase des Mitbestimmungsgesetzes von 1976 erstreekt. Nieht die Auswir kungen, sondern die Voraussetzungen des Mitbestimmungsgesetzes im BewuBtsein von Arbeitenden eines GroBbetriebes werden zur Diskussion gestellt. Welehen Anteil nehmen die Betroffenen selbst an der offentliehen Auseinandersetzung urn eine Regelung, die sie betrifft? Die empirisehen Arbeiten waren vor Verabsehiedung des Gesetzes abgesehlossen. Wenn ihre Ergebnisse erst heute veroffentlieht werden, hat dies seinen traurigen Grund im Unfalltod des Projektinitiators GUnter Hartfiel, im Universitatsweehsel eines der Autoren, aber aueh in einem zeitintensiven Auswer tungsprozeB. DaB die Projektergebnisse in der vorliegenden Form Uberhaupt noeh zur Veroffentliehung kommen, verdanken 1) Zum aktuellen Stand und Fragenkatalog von Mitbestimmungsforschung in der Bundesrepublik vgl.
