Das Ziel der theoretischen Physik ist die Aufstellung eines einheitlichen Axiomensystems mit dessen Symbolen und Verknüpfungsoperationen alle physikalischen Naturvorgänge mathematisch beschrieben und die zugeordneten Observablen berechnet werden können. Verzichtet man auf eine logisch-erkenntniskritische Analyse dieser Zielsetzung und akzep tiert man sie als pragmatische Arbeitshypothese, so kann man jedenfalls feststellen, daß die theoretische Physik sowohl in der Entwicklung einheitlicher Modelle als auch in ihrer axiomatisch-mathematischen Begründung und Ausarbeitung gegenwärtig große Fortschritte gemacht hat. Ein solcher Fortschritt in Richtung auf eine Vereinheitlichung hat nicht nur eine grundlegende wissenschaftliche, sondern auch eine didaktische Bedeutung. Bei der gegenwärtig außerordentlich großen "Produktion" an theoretischer Physik, bietet er die Möglichkeit zur systematischen Erfassung und Durchdringung des angebotenen Materials. Soll daher bereits im Studium der notwendige Anschluß an die gegenwärtige Forschung und Entwicklung der Physik hergestellt werden, so ist klar, daß sich der erwähnte Fort schritt auch im Kursunterricht niederschlagen und bei der Ausarbeitung dieses Unter richts diesem Umstand Rechnung getragen werden muß. Das vorliegende Buch soll als ein Beitrag in dieser Richtung verstanden und bezüglich seiner Publikation motiviert werden.
