Das vorliegende Lehrbuch wendet sich in erster Linie an Studenten der Informatik und der Mathematik, aber auch der Ingenieur- und Naturwissenschaften. Es eignet sich insgesamt fiir einen ein- bis zweisemestrigen Kurs, beispielsweise im dritten Stu dienjahr. Durch Kombination einiger Kapitel konnen ohne weiteres und fast beliebig kleinere Vorlesungen zusammengestellt werden. Bei entsprechender Aufarbeitung las sen sich einzelne Themen auch in Mathematik- oder Informatikkursen an Gymnasien verwenden. Der Leser sollte mit elementaren mathematischen Schreib- und Bezeichnungswei sen umgehen konnen. AuBerdem werden Kenntnisse iiber "Vektorraume" vorausge setzt, wie sie im ersten Studienjahr in der Linearen Algebra gelehrt werden. Weitere Vorkenntnisse, beispielsweise aus Algebra und Zahlentheorie, sind niitzlich, aber nicht unbedingt erforderlich, da alles Notwendige im Text entwickelt wird. Die hier prasentierten Themen wurden von mir in den letzten J ahren mehrfach in Vorlesungen an der Technischen Hochschule Darmstadt erprobt. Schon vorher hat Prof. B. Ganter in Darmstadt ahnliche Vorlesungen gehaltenj aufgrund anderer Ver pflichtungen war es ihm leider nicht moglich,als Autor an diesem Buch mitzuwirken.
