The correspondence conducted between Hans-Georg Gadamer (1900-2002) and Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) from 1922 to 1976 and relatively fully preserved documents the five and a half decades of personal and philosophical relationship between the two thinkers. Supported by a commentary, in which the numerous references to persons, texts, circumstances and backgrounds are carefully explored, the reader can follow up close the development of the initial teacher-student relationship to a close collegial and friendly relationship and participate as a listener in the conversation in which philosophical and philological questions have been touched upon as well as publication and lecture proposals.
