Dieses einzigartige Buch vermittelt umfangreiche Kenntnisse für Planung und Bauausführung von Silos und Siloanlagen. Dabei wird neben den bautechnischen Aspekten auch auf den Betrieb und die Funktion eines Silos als Teil einer komplexen Anlage eingegangen. Nach einem Abriss der geschichtlichen Entwicklung des Silosbaus folgen Ausführungen über die Lasten und Fließeigenschaften von Schüttgütern sowie die Ausbildung von Siloausläufen. Anschließend werden die Abläufe von Staubexplosionen und -bränden erläutert. Der Hauptteil des Buches ist der Berechnung von Stahl und Spannbetonsilos, von Silos aus Stahl oder Aluminium, von GFK-Silos und speziellen Silos und Behältern in der Landwirtschaft gewidmet. Den Abschluss bildet ein Kapitel über klassische Siloschäden und deren Vermeidung. Das Buch erscheint in der Reihe "Ernst & Sohn ZEITLOS" als unveränderter Nachdruck der Originalausgabe von 1988.
