German Description: Der Klang des Mittelalters scheint leicht zu imaginieren, denkt man etwa an die Schlachtenrufe mittelalterlicher Helden, an den liturgischen Gesang gregorianischer Chorale, den feierlichen Klang des Kirchengelauts oder aber an die feinen Tone der Minnesanger. Obwohl sich die Sound Studies in den vergangenen Jahren weitestgehend etabliert haben und mithin verstarkt nach Rolle und Funktion auditiver Wahrnehmung gefragt wird, ist die historische Dimension vormoderner Akustik bislang nur vereinzelt in den Blick genommen worden. Der Sammelband vereint Beitrage, in denen aus interdisziplinarer Perspektive nach der Bedeutung von Lautspharen, der spezifischen Semantisierung und der Funktion von Klangkulissen in der Vormoderne gefragt wird. Dabei spielt das Verhaltnis von Text und Klang, Raum und Klang, Architektur und Akustik ebenso eine Rolle wie die symbolische Bedeutung und die Spezifik sinnlicher Wahrnehmung von Lautspharen.
