Das Siebenburgisch-Sachsische Worterbuch erfasst den Gesamtwortschatz der Siebenburger Sachsen, die seit dem 13. Jahrhundert im Karpatenhochland siedelten, jedoch nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs und vor allem nach 1989 mehrheitlich die angestammten Gebiete verlassen haben, um nach Deutschland und Osterreich, aber auch in die USA und nach Kanada auszuwandern. Das Siebenburgisch-Sachsische ist eine uberwiegend moselfrankisch gepragte Reliktmundart, teilweise auf dem Entwicklungsstand des Mittelhochdeutschen. Die in den Worterbuchartikeln aufgefuhrten Beispiele konnen als Dokumentation eines im Untergang begriffenen Dialekts gelten. Das Worterbuch im Institut fur gesellschaftswissenschaftliche Forschungen der Rumanischen Akademie in Hermannstadt (Sibiu) bearbeitet und erscheint seit dem Band 6 (Buchstabe L) im Bohlau Verlag.
