Die entscheidende Rolle des technischen Fortschritts als Wachstums- bzw. Wettbewerbsfaktor laBt ihn zu einem zentralen Problem der Fiihrung betriebswirtschaftlicher Organisationen werden. Die meisten industriellen Unternehmungen k6nnen nur dann mit der Sicherung ihrer Existenz und der Erhaltung oder Steigerung ihrer Ertragskraft rechnen, wenn sie laufend die fUr die Leistungserstellung ben6tigten naturwissen schaftlich-technischen Kenntnisse erweitern, erganzen und vertiefen. Ihren Ausdruck findet diese Wissensmehrung z. B. in der Verbesserung angebote ner Produkte oder angewandter Produktionsverfahren bzw. der Fahigkeit zur Erstellung v6llig neuer Produkte, zur DurchfUhrung v6llig neuer Pro duktionsprozesse. Institutionalisiert werden die Prozesse der Integrierung und Gewinnung neuen naturwissenschaftlich-technischen Wissens in den Forschungs- und Entwicklungsabteilungen der industriellen Unternehmun gen. Mit der durch die zunehmende Beschleunigung des technischen Fort schritts bedingten Expansion der Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaufwendun gen riicken Planung und organisatorische Gestaltung des Prozesses der Wis sensgewinnung immer mehr in den Vordergrund des Interesses. Es ist das Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit, einen Beitrag zu liefern, der das Ver standnis fUr die komplexe Interdependenz der den Erfolg industrieller For schung und Entwicklung bestimmenden Faktoren zu erleichtern vermag.
