Ce travail vise à comprendre les dispositifs de coordination inter-firmes dans la Supply Chain de l'industrie automobile. Nous avons exploré d'une part la littérature sur le SCM qui mit en exergue l'importance d'une convergence des comportements entre acteurs, et d'autre part la littérature sur l'économie d'organisation, la sociologie d'organisation, etc., laissant penser qu'un alignement des comportements est peu soutenable. La partie empirique se compose de l'étude de cas des deux usines de Renault au Maroc dans une démarche compréhensive au sens du Dumez (2014). Les résultats ont fait émerger trois idéaux-types dont des dispositifs changent d'un idéal-type à l'autre et selon que l'on se place en amont ou en aval. Cette recherche a également appuyé les travaux sur le rôle décisif que joue le leadership dans la Supply Chain. Elle a aussi montré la place qu'occupe la culture dans les différents idéaux-types et finalement la sensibilité du système organisationnel des entreprises, et avec les idéaux-types, aux différents facteurs tels que, la spécificité de l'actif, la technicité du produit, le temps, la qualité et le prix.
