Nicht in das Jahrbuch integriert wurde die Entwicklung auf der Insel Zypern bzw. der nur von der Tiirkei anerkannten Republik Nordzypern. Trotz Mitgliedschaft in der Arabischen Liga trifft dies auch auf die beiden Staaten Djibuti und Somalia am Horn von Afrika zu. Diese Staaten werden im Afrika-Jahrbuch behandelt. Nicht konsequent ist die Gruppierung alIer Golfstaaten in einem einzigen Liinderbeitrag. Diese Staaten sind zwar aile Mitglieder im Golf-Kooperationsrat. Dies trifft aber auch auf Saudi-Arabien zu, dem die Herausgeber jedoch in jedem Fall eine eigenstiindige Rubrik zuweisen wollten. Die Entwicklungen in den nach dem Zerfall der Sowjetunion in Zentralasien Ende 1991 entstandenen Republiken mit uberwiegend islamischer Bevoikerung wurden im Nahost-Jahrbuch 1992 erstmals in den Themenbeitriigen berucksichtigt. Die im Jahrbuch gebrauchte geographische Bezeichnung Zentralasien umfaBt sowohl das eigentliche Zentralasien (Staaten Kasachstan, Kirgistan, Tadschikistan, Turkmenistan und Usbekistan) als auch das transkaukasische Aserbaidschan. Querverweise auf andere (Liinder-)Beitriige des Jahrbuches, in denen sich zum gieichen Sachverhalt ebenfalls Ausfiihrungen oder Ergiinzungen finden, erfolgen durch Pfeil (--. Verweise auf Beitriige in fruheren Ausgaben des Jahrbuches erfolgen in iihnlicher Form. Zum Beispiel wird auf den Iran-Beitrag im Nahost-Jahrbuch 1987 folgendermaBen hingewiesen: (--> Iran, JB 1987). Unter der Rubrik Regionaiorganisationen werden die Arabische Liga, der Golfkoopera tionsrat, die Arabische Maghrebunion, die Organisation Islamische Konferenz und die OPEC abgehandelt. Der Arabische Kooperationsrat blieb 1992 wegen volliger Inaktivitiit als Folge der irakischen Aggression gegen Kuwait unberucksichtigt. 1m Dokumententeil werden einzelne wichtige Dokumente entweder im vollen Wortlaut oder in Ausziigen wiedergegeben.
