Description

This book encapsulates the ‘New Normal Policy’ which has changed the regional policy between China and the African continent. This volume emphasises China’s role in Africa as a collaborator in an attempt to fulfil the Beijing consensus in emerging countries. The contextual research encompasses how one can comprehend the influence of the Chinese model in Africa and her diplomatic relations with the continent. China and Africa: A New Paradigm of Global Business endeavours to define whether or not the Washington model has become weathered, and the Beijing consensus more relevant in this specific continent.   Review “China and Africa: A new paradigm of global business is a comprehensive collection covering a broad range of political, historical and economic accounts in the field of China–Africa relations. … book is recommended to a wide readership, ranging from students to policymakers with backgrounds in international relations, anthropology and history, among others. … serves as a valuable tool, with empirical data, for readers with an interest in understanding the dynamics of Sino–African relations in this fast-moving, globalised world.” (Yejoo Kim, South African Journal of International Affairs, Vol. 24 (4), November, 2017) Review “ China and Africa: A New Paradigm of Global Business has a good collection of chapters dealing with important issues related to China’s footprint in Africa. Three useful aspects of China’s impact are pinpointed: the state policy, the business investment and the associated ideology. Serious readers will be inspired to tackle the following critical questions: how true is China’s contribution to Africa’s recent industrial development?; how real is the so-called “Beijing model” as practiced in Africa?; and how far can China pursue its global strategy in Africa under the slogans of peaceful rise and harmonious world?” (Hsin-Hunag Michael Hsiao, Research Fellow, Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica, Taiwan) From the Back Cover This book encapsulates the ‘New Normal Policy’ which has changed the regional policy between China and the African continent.
