About the Author A. Orlando Ortiz, MD, MBA, FACR received his BA degree at Columbia College, his MD degree at Harvard Medical School and his MBA degree at West Virginia University. He is a Professor of Radiology and Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, NY, a clinical campus for Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He is an interventional spine radiologist and received his interventional neuroradiology fellowship training at Columbia University. He is a past-president of the American Society of Spine Radiology and an active member of the North American Spine Society. Dr. Ortiz is widely published in the field of image-guided spine interventions and has presented extensively on these topics at national and international scientific meetings. He has been performing thousands of spine interventions, including spine biopsy, over the past 3 decades and shares his expertise with others at scientific workshops and training courses.
