Botero is part of the Faculty of Comparative Literature and Folklore Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, USA. She has a PhD in Spanish and Portuguese Literature from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and a PhD in Psychoanalysis from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
