Gleichzeitig achten sie auf die möglichen Hindernisse, die für die Versöhnung aus nachtragender Erinnerung entstehen können. Das Verhältnis von Erinnern und Vergessen, so zeigt sich, muss nicht unbedingt komplementär sein. Sein Verständnis eröffnet jedoch neue Möglichkeiten, Vergebung und Vergessen aufeinander zu beziehen, und führt letztlich zu der theologisch abgründigen Frage, ob auch Gott vergisst, wenn er vergibt.
