Williams diese Beweise in einen größeren Rahmen, indem sie eine detaillierte Analyse der Bedeutung und der Interpretation von 'ani hu' in biblischen und jüdischen Traditionen anbietet. Sie untersucht die Rolle von 'ani hu' als knappen Ausdruck vom Anspruch Gottes auf Ausschließlichkeit ('ich bin es') im Lied Mose und in der Lyrik des Deutero-Jesajas und versucht, die spätere Geschichte seiner Interpretation aus dem erheblichen Beweismaterial im aramäischen Targumim und in einigen Texten des Midrasch zu rekonstruieren.
