In der biblisches Spruchweisheit wird das Reden des Menschen vorrangig unter dem Aspekt des Handelns thematisiert. Dabei geht es meist um die Auswirkungen von Kommunikation in einem sozialen Gefüge. Die dabei verwendete Bildsprache bietet einen zentralen Schlüssel zum Verständnis dieser Reflexionen.In der alttestamentlichen Exegese dominierte lange Zeit ein Vorverständnis, das den Texten bzw. ihren Autor*innen einen Mangel an Abstraktions- und Reflexionsvermögen unterstellte. Unter diesem Blickwinkel wurde die Wortwahl der Texte vorrangig in einem gegenständlichen Sinn gedeutet. Sprechwerkzeuge und Äußerungen bekamen dadurch eine Substantialität zugesprochen, die sprachliches Handeln quasi als Magie erscheinen ließ. Die vorliegende Arbeit geht von Beobachtungen zu heutigen sogenannten „Laienlinguistiken" aus und stellt erstaunliche Parallelen zur weisheitlichen Sprachreflexion fest. Der ausführliche Blick in die Auslegungsgeschichte der einschlägigen Weisheitssprüche aus Spr 10-29 zeigt deutlich, dass die dort formulierten Einsichten immer schon in einem sprachpragmatischen Sinn gedeutet wurden. Dementsprechend wird hier nun auch die verwendete Bildsprache im Sinne metaphorischer Konzepte gedeutet.Dieses Buch arbeitet also einen Überblick über die Themen biblisch-weisheitlicher Reflexionen über Kommunikation heraus und rekonstruiert die dem zugrundeliegenden metaphorischen Konzepte.
