Product Description Im Mittelpunkt der Monographie stehen die fünf antiken Versionen des Estherbuches, die im Masoretischen Text, in der Septuaginta, im griechischen Alpha-Text, in der Vetus Latina und im 11. Buch der Antiquitates Judaicae des Josephus überliefert sind. Der Autor diskutiert die Textvarianten hinsichtlich der narrativen Profilierung der Figuren sowie der Diskurse politischer und göttlicher Macht. Dabei arbeitet er die Konzeptionen politischer Theologie in den Quellen heraus und ordnet sie in ihren Kontext ein. Die fünf Verarbeitungen des Esther-Stoffes erscheinen als je eigenständige Versuche frühjüdischer Identitätsbildung in der Zeit zwischen dem 4. Jh. v. Chr. und dem ausgehenden 1. Jh. n. Chr. sowie teils darüber hinaus. Insbesondere im Blick auf die altlateinische Version des Estherbuches, die hier erstmals in deutscher Übersetzung veröffentlicht ist, leistet die Studie einen gewichtigen Beitrag zur Forschung.
