Product Description Platons Überlegungen zur Ökonomie sind vielfach zu Unrecht marginalisiert worden. Denn sie bieten grundlegende Problematisierungen, Analysen und Lösungsansätze. Ihnen geht die vorliegende Untersuchung nach, indem sie zentrale Texte im Zusammenhang mit platonischen Leitvorstellungen interpretiert. Auf diese Weise werden generelle Anschauungen Platons, etwa über das Verhältnis von Anthropologie und Ökonomie, genauso erhellt wie seine differenzierten Vorschläge zur Regulierung, die er vor allem in dem Spätwerk „Nomoi" vorlegt. Dabei erweist sich, daß Platons Konzeptionen Anschluß an moderne wirtschaftstheoretische Ansätze bieten - sei es im Hinblick auf die Diskussion über den homo oeconomicus, sei es im Hinblick auf den Einfluß kultureller Faktoren auf das wirtschaftliche Handeln des einzelnen, das die Neue Institutionenökonomik reflektiert. Indem das Buch systematisch in Platons ökonomisches Denken einführt und seine Aktualität aufzeigt, ist es sowohl für Altertumswissenschaftler, Philosophen, Wirtschaftswissenschaftler und Theologen als auch für interessierte Laien von Interesse. Unter Rückgriff auf die NIÖ gelingt eine systematische Einordnung seines ökonomischen Ansatzes, die zugleich die Platon-Forschung methodisch an die althistorische Forschung anschließt. Ferner enthält das Buch äußerst hilfreiche Ressourcen für weitere Untersuchungen.
