Ein Raum der„Freiheit" - der atlantische Ozean - war Schauplatz dieser Geschichteder Gewalt. Er verband die Räume der „Sklavenproduktion" im InnernAfrikas über Küsten und Inseln, auf denen sich erste Formen von modernenSklavereien entwickelten, bis hin zu den Gebieten der Amerikas, in denensich im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert dynamische Formen der Massensklavereimit Hochtechnologien (Second Slavery) entwickelten. Auf Basis derTraumata der rund 12-13 Millionen aus Afrika Verschleppten untersuchtvorliegender Band vor allem große Kaufl eute/Ausrüster (und Versicherer)der Sklavenschiffe, Kapitäne, Faktoren in Afrika und Schiffsärzte, aberauch die staatlichen Sklavenhandels-Profi teure des Westens, der Amerikassowie Afrikas (Portugal, Großbritannien, Frankreich, Niederlande, USA,Brasilien, Spanien/ Kuba und baltische Gebiete, Dahomey, Oyo, Kongo,Matamba, Kasanje, Angola, Loango, Futa-Staaten, Sokoto-Kalifat u.a.). Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt transkulturellen Lebensformen derMenschen, die - oft als Nachkommen von iberischen Männern und afrikanischen Frauen - als Atlantikkreolen die Sklavenschiffsbesatzungen derrund 40000 Fahrten zwischen Amerika und Afrika stellten. Sie arbeitetenin direktem Kontakt mit den Versklavten. Atlantikkreolen waren auchÜbersetzer, Heiler, Köche und Ruderer oder Wachen. Sie vermittelten dieGeschäfte zwischen Atlantik und dem Innern der Kontinente - oft selbst ineiner Art Sklavenstatus. Und sie entwickelten schon seit dem 16. JahrhundertLebens-, Wissens-, Konsum- und Kulturformen, die in Europa erst im18. Jahrhundert, vor allem aber im 19. Jahrhundert als Kosmopolitismusund Biedermeier-Kapitalismus Furore machten und noch heute Grundlagender Globalisierung bilden.
