Die Kampagne liegt bisher im ‚toten Winkel' der linguistischen Forschung. Dabei findet eine an Wissensformen und Mentalitäten interessierte Sprachwissenschaft in ihnen einen reichen Gegenstand: So sind sie nicht nur appellative Gerinnungsformen von Interessen oder Kommunikationsstrategien von Öffentlichkeitsakteuren. Ebenfalls können Kampagnen als Sinnangebote, als Wirklichkeitsentwürfe und als (Re-)Produktionsräume gesellschaftlichen Wissens um sich selbst betrachtet werden. Basis der Untersuchung bilden drei große Kampagnen sehr verschiedener Akteure (IG Metall, BDI, Aktion Mensch) Sie wurden daraufhin betrachtet, wie sie ideale Vorstellungen der Gemeinwohlerzeugung in Deutschland entwerfen oder stabilisieren und dadurch die Kontur der bundesrepublikanischen kollektiven Identität erschließbar machen. Als methodischer Zugang dienen u.a. die Analyse von Schlag- und Fahnen-/Stigmawörtern, die Metaphern- sowie die Topos-Analyse. Darüber hinaus werden neue Zugriffe, wie topische Spannungsmuster, Vagheiten oder Positiv-Negativ-Fokussierungen aufgezeigt, die sich insgesamt auf die Befassung mit politischer Sprache übertragen lassen.
