Was tun mit dem Verb? Wortarten, namentlich das Verb, bilden seit jeher einen zentralen Bestandteil des schulischen Grammatikunterrichts. Man würde daher von der germanistischen Linguistik und Sprachdidaktik eine in sich konsistente Analyse des Verbs mit wissenschaftlich abgesicherten didaktischen Pfaden erwarten. Diese Erwartung bleibt unerfüllt: So einander widersprechend und teils in sich selbst inkonsistent wie die zugrundegelegten linguistischen Ansätze zur Erfassung des Verbs selbst, so unvereinbar sind die unterschiedlichen Vorschläge zu einer Didaktik, die sein vielfältiges Formen- und Funktionsspektrum berücksichtigt. Der Sammelband zeigt daher Perspektiven auf, wie das grammatische und didaktische Potenzial des Verbs besser genutzt werden kann. Thematisiert werden verbale Kategorien und Relationen auf unterschiedlichen sprachlichen Ebenen. Diese werden konsequent aufeinander bezogen und füreinander genutzt. Exemplarisch zeigen die Beiträge didaktisch relevante Zusammenhänge zwischen Phonologie und Graphematik, Morphologie und Lexikon, Syntax und Semantik, Grammatik und Pragmatik auf und liefern damit einen Beitrag zur systematischen Fundierung einer Didaktik des Verbs.
