Der mittelhochdeutsche 'Parzival' (ca. 1200/1210) gehört zur Weltliteratur. Auf kunstvolle Weise verbindet Wolframs Roman den Artus- mit dem Gralsstoff und entfaltet ein handlungs- und figurenreiches Panorama der ritterlich-höfischen Kultur des Mittelalters. Im Mittelpunkt der Erzählung steht Parzival, der nach verschiedenen Stationen des Scheiterns und Versagens schließlich den leidenden Gralkönig Anfortas durch die Mitleidsfrage erlöst und auf der Gralsburg Munsalvaesche die Herrschaft antritt. Die zweite Auflage bietet unverändert den maßgeblichen Text nach Karl Lachmann und die hoch gelobte Übersetzung von Peter Knecht. Als Neuerung enthält sie eine konzise Einführung in grundlegende Editions- und Interpretationsprobleme von Bernd Schirok.
