Cet ouvrage propose une réflexion sur le roman contemporain depuis 1980 et constate que la pratique de l'écriture fictionnelle en prose n'a jamais été aussi vivante qu'aujourd'hui. La première partie présente une mise au point sur les motivations des lecteurs d'oeuvres de fiction et sur les spécificités de celles-ci dans le contexte contemporain. Un panorama des ouvrages critiques de référence propose un aperçu des principaux auteurs et des traits dominants de leurs oeuvres. Dans la deuxième partie, une étude critique plus serrée de quelques romans analyse leurs liens possibles avec l'esthétique postmoderne. La troisième partie est consacrée à l'engagement « oblique » des écrivains qui se posent dorénavant en témoins privilégiés du monde contemporain, selon une posture tout à fait caractéristique de l'écriture romanesque d'aujourd'hui. About the Author Elisa Bricco est professeur associé de littérature française à l'Université de Gênes en Italie. Ses recherches portent sur le roman et la poésie contemporains. Elle a écrit sur A. Bertina, F. Bon, J. Echenoz, A. Fleischer, S. Germain, E. Hocquard, V. Rouzeau, A. Volodine. Elle dirige le groupe de recherche de l'ARGEC (Atelier de recherches génois sur l'écriture contemporaine).
