Este libro es uno de los frutos de la investigación llevada adelante por el equipo de hispanistas de la Universidad de Palermo, en el ámbito del Proyecto Nacional Editoria e cultura di interesse ispanico in Sicilia tra Rinascimento e Barocco: catalogazione e approssimazione critica. El volumen recoge el acercamiento crítico a las obras de interés hispánico impresas en Sicilia, según agrupaciones de tipologías textuales, y las transcripciones de los textos estudiados. Se ha trazado el panorama sobre la actividad tipográfica palermitana entre los siglos XVI y XVII. Se han puesto de relieve las estrategias retóricas y de los recursos discursivos subyacentes a la preponderancia de los escritos de carácter religioso o, en todo caso, en relación con el ámbito clerical. En la exploración de las estructuras propagandístico-celebrativas, se han analizado los textos referidos a acontecimientos bélicos. Respecto al análisis de la praxis traductora, los textos individualizados han sido estudiados como una prueba de los evidentes influjos culturales desde el centro del Imperio hacia la periferia, así como vinculados con el efecto de reverberación propagandístico-ideológica que la imprenta siciliana proporciona a la Monarquía de España en la época.
