Description

This book provides a comprehensive and consistent introduction to the Internet of Things. Hot topics, including the European privacy legislation GDPR, and homomorphic encryption are explained. For each topic, the reader gets a theoretical introduction and an overview, backed by programming examples. For demonstration, the authors use the IoT platform VICINITY, which is open-source, free, and offers leading standards for privacy.  Presents readers with a coherent single-source introduction into the IoT; Introduces selected, hot-topics of IoT, including GDPR (European legislation on data protection), and homomorphic encryption; Provides coding examples for most topics that allow the reader to kick-start his own IoT applications, smart services, etc. From the Back Cover This book provides a comprehensive and consistent introduction to the Internet of Things. Carna Zivkovic received the M.Sc. degree from the University in Novi Sad, Serbia in 2010 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany in 2016. From 2010-2012 she worked at the Institute of Computer Technology of the Vienna University of Technology. In 2012 she joined the Chair “Design of Cyber-Physical Systems” at the University of Kaiserslautern where she completed her Ph.D degree with distinction. She is currently working as a postdoc at the University of Kaiserslautern in the field of system modelling, simulation and verification of cyber-physical systems and IoT networks. Dr.-Ing. Carna Zivkovic has been nominated for the Bertha Benz Prize in 2017 from the president of the University of Kaiserslautern. Dr. Yajuan Guan (S’14 M’16) received the B.S. degree and M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Yanshan University, China, and the Ph.D. degree in power electronics from the Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark, in 2007, 2010 and 2016 respectively. From 2010 to 2012, she was an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Electrical Engineering (IEE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). In 2013, she was a Lecturer in IEE, CAS. From 2016 to 2018, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow with Aalborg University. She is currently an Assistant Professor with Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark, as part of the Denmark Center for Research on Microgrids. Her research interests include microgrids, distributed generation systems, power converters, energy internet, and IoT. Prof. Dr. Christoph Grimm works on the model-based design of cyber-physical and analog/mixed-signal systems, in particular on symbolic simulation, standardization, and also design and development of hardware/software platforms for the Internet of Things. He has studied electrical engineering at TU Darmstadt, holds a Dr. degree and professional habilitation from Frankfurt University. 2006 he became a full professor of Embedded Systems at Vienna University of Technology, where he also later on became head of the Institute of Computer Technology and head of the research area “Automation and Systems technology”. 2011 he was offered a chair at Ruhr University Bochum, 2012 he joined Kaiserslautern University of Technology at the Chair of Design of Cyber-Physical Systems.
